Witchwood Review
The band were returning to The Witchwood for the second time as The Blackmore Legacy, the first time they played they went down a storm so this was eagerly anticipated. At 10pm the lights dim and Judy Garland can be heard singing Over The Rainbow, the band take the stage and the first track "Kill The King" rips its way through your chest.
Once again the band set the bar very high from the first track and went on to produce another blistering performance, working together with great precision and individually maintained a growing level of excellence you would expect from professional performers.
Tribute has to be paid to the band as they powered through a two hour set containing a top heavy mix of Ronnie James Dio Rainbow era tracks with a handful of later Rainbow and Deep Purple tracks to complete the set list. You would struggle to pick out a standout track as the whole set was incredible, it never ceases to amaze me just how accurate the band covers the talents of Ritchie Blackmore over the years. If I had to pick one it would have to be Perfect Strangers. A thumping riff throughout and it all starts with one of Rocks greatest intro’s of all time. Andy Keys nailed the keyboard intro and set the tone for what was “Perfect” Strangers.
